German news channel ntv reported on the morning of February 23 that due to the acute crisis in relations with Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky decided to partially recruit reservists in order to respond more effectively to a possible Russian invasion. He also announced new reservists’ military exercises.
The president did not say how many will be called.
At the same time, President Zelensky launched a program to increase the independence of the national economy. Zelensky plans to boost the country’s economy through a broad program. The measures of the program include, among other things, reduction of the value added tax on gasoline and diesel fuel. The President announced a meeting with representatives of 150 of Ukraine’s largest companies and called on businessmen to stay in the country.
He also said that Kyiv was working to organize a summit with the participation of permanent members of the UN Security Council, Turkey and Germany. Permanent members of the UN Security Council include the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia.
