The Prague City Court has begun hearing the case of former military man Martin Sukup, who is accused of a terrorist attack and involvement in a terrorist group. According to the prosecutor, the 43-year-old man took an active part in the fighting in Ukraine together with pro-Russian separatists. According to the indictment, he intended to actively support separatist groups in eastern Ukraine. As the commander of the tank company, according to prosecutor Marek Bodlak, he also took part in the so-called August offensive in August 2014, during which members of separatist forces took control of the city of Ilovaisk and its environs, killing up to a thousand Ukrainian soldiers. According to the plaintiff, he held various positions in the military structures of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic, at least until May 2018.
