Головна - Воєнна сфера - Germany joins the European missile shield

German frigates F124 Sachsen will receive new air control radars. This will allow them, among other things, to join the European missile system, where in addition to the Americans can operate the Dutch, British, French, Norwegians, Spaniards and Italians.

Four new long-range radars for F124 frigates will be contracted by the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Technical Support of the Bundeswehr BAAINBw (Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr) and the Israeli concern IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries).
The Germans believe that this will eliminate the surveillance system based on outdated and hard-to-reach electronic components, and new radars will also begin production of national means of protection against ballistic missiles BMD (“Protection against ballistic missiles”).
It is assumed that this will make it possible to detect airborne objects at a distance of more than 400 km, as well as objects in orbit around the Earth (ballistic missiles) at a distance of 2 thousand kilometers.
This is not the only Israeli long-range radar that German forces will receive. In July, the same consortium of HENSOLDT and IAI ELTA Systems Ltd. received a contract for 200 million euros for the modernization of the ground surveillance system under the program HADR NF (Hughes Air Defense Radar Nachfolgesystem).
